Welcome to Halton Healthcare!

Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) is a modern and progressive healthcare organization that takes pride in providing quality, compassionate hospital-based health services to our growing communities. HHS is an innovative organization with three community hospitals that, together, provide quality health services to the more than 275,000 Halton residents. Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital has provided quality health services to the Oakville and Clarkson communities for more than 50 years. Short distances north are Milton District Hospital and Georgetown Hospital, which serve the residents of Milton and Halton Hills. Together, our hospitals offer the following core health services: Medicine (including ICU and a Regional Renal Dialysis Program), Surgery, Mental Health, Rehab/Geriatrics, Maternal/Child (including a Level II Nursery), Emergency/Ambulatory Care and the Milton and Georgetown Family Practice Programs. Halton Healthcare scored very well on Hospital Report 2006 for Acute Care (an annual report conducted by the MOHLTC and the Ontario Hospital Association). Halton Healthcare was one of a handful of Ontario hospitals identified as high performing in one or more areas measured by the report - and we were one of two hospitals who achieved this standing in three of the five areas. Our score for Overall Impressions - an indicator that measures what patients think overall about their hospital experience and the quality of their care - was the third highest amongst peer community hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area.

In 2007, Halton Healthcare was once again awarded full accreditation status by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation. In their final report, the surveyors stated that the organization has achieved a number of successes and specifically noted that HHS has "done a great job of ensuring that the sites are a reflection of the communities." It was also noted that the organization has fully implemented all 21 of the Patient Safety Required Organizational Practices.

HHS is committed to promoting an environment of healing and wellness by offering a comprehensive wellness program called Kailo (pronounced Ky-lo). This program includes on-site fitness centres, on-site wellness counseling, massage, tai chi and yoga classes, team-building games, stress-reduction workshops and a free lending library. In 2005, Halton Healthcare was presented with the Ontario Hospital Association's Healthy Hospital Innovators Award as well as the National Quality Institute's Progressive Excellence Program (NQI PEP), Level One Certification. The award acknowledged Halton Healthcare for its commitment to developing a healthy, safe workplace - one which promotes employee involvement as well as open communication.
