Welcome to Halton Healthcare’s new Nursing website. I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our innovative programs and services and hope that you will find the site both interesting and informative.

This site is your opportunity to learn more about the benefits of nursing at HHS, Professional Development and Education, Practice Excellence and more. We are continuously looking for innovations that will improve patient care delivery and make the practice of nursing more rewarding, both now and into the future.

Our 1,200 Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses are integral members of the interprofessional team who help meet the healthcare needs of our three communities in a timely and effective manner. Working in all clinical programs, our nurses provide care within their scope of practice to a wide variety of patient populations. Nurse participation is sought on numerous committees and unit-based councils. As nurses continue to enhance their skills and pursue their formal education, they have an opportunity to advance in their career at HHS. They may apply for job openings in other clinical areas, or progress to leadership positions such as Clinical Resource Nurse, Professional Practice Clinician, Patient Care Manager, Program Leader or other administrative positions.

HHS nurses contribute their knowledge, skills and insights by spearheading or participating in innovative initiatives that lead to the ongoing advancement of care delivery at HHS. One of our current initiatives is focused on providing safer care to our elder population using the US based Nurses Improving Care for Health-System Elders (NICHE) model. The focus includes falls and mobility, pressure ulcer prevention, urinary continence and prevention of delirium. Nurses are engaged in a variety of quality improvement initiatives, including end of life care in the critical care environment, patient safety improvements, order-set development, and refinement of our electronic health record. HHS's forward-thinking approach is also reflected in the leading-edge equipment and technologies it makes available to our nurses.
