Oakville Physician Recruitment

Community Profile
OTMH is located in the picturesque Town of Oakville – a vibrant and thriving community within the Greater Toronto Area. This municipality provides all the advantages of a well-serviced urban centre, while maintaining its small-town ambiance. People who live in Oakville are proud of the quality of life this great community has to offer.
To keep pace with the growing Oakville community, Halton Healthcare Services is building a new hospital located on the North-West corner of Dundas Street and Third Line. This new facility will replace the existing hospital, which originally opened in 1950. At 1.6 million sq. ft., the new state-of-the-art facility will be more than three times the size of the current hospital. Designed to be patient-centred and family-friendly, the New Oakville Hospital will provide a holistic, healing environment on an easily accessible site with plenty of convenient parking. Construction of the New Oakville Hospital began in summer 2011 and the facility is expected to admit its first patient in late Fall 2015.
The Town of Oakville provides all the advantages of a well-serviced urban centre, yet prides itself on having small town ambiance. This historic Town, founded in 1827, has preserved its rich heritage, especially in the downtown area where many 19th Century buildings house over 350 fine shops, services and restaurants. The downtown is also home to one of two local harbours on Lake Ontario, which feature docks and slips for sail and powerboats.
Within a one-hour drive, Oakville residents have access to eight universities and eight technical colleges for formal or continuing education. Local elementary and secondary schools are supplemented by nine independent schools. Sheridan College's main campus is located in Oakville, and provides a variety of education and training opportunities in business, digital media, engineering, arts, social sciences and technical fields. The Oakville Campus is also home to the College's animation program.
Residents are fortunate to have access to over 2,400 acres (972 hectares) of park land, two natural harbours, historic buildings, theatres and galleries, Glen Abbey Golf Club - site of the Canadian Open, and the annual Waterfront and Jazz Festivals. Just 30 minutes away is Canada's number one Tourist destination - Toronto with 7,800 restaurants and the third largest live theatre centre in the English speaking world.
In 2011, HHS signed an affiliation agreement with McMaster University that will see medical residents and students receive training at all three of its community hospital - training the next generation of physicians who will work at the hospital.
