Quality Management
We are committed to making sure that you receive the highest quality of care when you visit any of our hospitals. To ensure that the highest healthcare standards are in place, HHS undergoes routine assessments and evaluations by external organizations in addition to continuous internal reviews. These processes are in place to ensure we are providing the highest level of care, consistent with recognized standards of care and service.

Hospital Ombud
If you have concerns about the quality of care you have received while in the hospital we would like to hear from you. The Hospital Ombud is a neutral person, hired by the Hospital, who acts in an objective way to work with you and hospital staff to find answers. The Ombud is available to listen, follow-up on concerns with nurses, physicians or other members of staff, answer any of your questions related to policies or procedures or investigate issues.
Confidentiality is maintained during the process. Be assured that your care, or future care, will not be affected negatively by bringing your concerns forward.
Accreditation
Accreditation Canada, previously the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA) is the major national accrediting body for health services organizations across Canada. Accreditation is the process used by organizations like HHS to evaluate and improve the quality of their services. Accreditation also provides recognition that an organization's services are meeting the national standards for quality.
In July 2007 Halton Healthcare Services received notification from the CCHSA that it had, once again, been awarded full accreditation status. This was the first accreditation in which HHS participated as a three-site organization.

National Quality Institute's Healthy Hospital Innovator Award
In 2005, Halton Healthcare Services was the recipient of the Healthy Hospital Innovator Award. This award provides national recognition for organizations that have met the criteria for Level One Healthy Workplace Progressive Excellence Program (PEP) from the National Quality Institure. The NQI program is linked to the Canada Awards for Excellence Program (healthy workplace category) and is Canada's most prestigious award for the development and sustainability of a healthy workplace.
In August of 2007, HHS received the NQI Organizational Quality and Wellness Criteria Level 2 Certification. There are four levels in the National Quality Institute's Progressive Excellence Program. Halton Healthcare Services intends to continue building upon our experience and will be seeking Level 3 certification in the next year on it journey to excellence at Level 4 certification.
