Milton District Hospital Medical & Surgical Services
Milton District Hospital provides medical and surgical inpatient care and intensive care. Surgical day care services are also provided on an outpatient basis.
Over the past two years, MDH has successfully recruited three obstetricians/gynaecologists, two general surgeons, nine family physicians, and a full-time orthopaedic surgeon.
Surgical services
Surgical services are provided by a team of health care professionals including nurses, surgeons, anaesthetists, family physicians and a host of other hospital professionals.
Many common surgical procedures are now being performed as day surgery. This means that patients arrive for surgery in the morning and return home later the same day to recuperate in the comfort of their own home.
If however, you will be spending time in the hospital after an operation you will be admitted to an inpatient unit designated for our medical and surgical patients.
Milton District Hospital has three operating rooms. Procedures carried out at MDH fall within the following surgical categories:
- General surgery
- Gynaecology
- Orthopaedic Surgery
- Plastic Surgery
- Urology
Day surgery procedures account for 80% of all surgical procedures and include a range of endoscopic procedures and other minimally invasive surgical procedures.
Our surgical team strives to provide a coordinated approach to your hospital visit.
Medical Services
Our medical program includes the operation of a 6-bed intensive care unit. Medical patients stay in the medical surgical unit on the second floor. Our multidisciplinary team includes support for Palliative Care and Social Work and Discharge Planning. Medical services at MDH are supported by diagnostic and therapeutic services within the hospital.
The medical services are focused on providing quality patient and family focused care.
