The Obstetrics Unit at the Milton District Hospital Site is a full service Level 1 facility. It is a secure unit with labour, delivery and post partum beds for eight patients.
The MDH Obstetrical Unit reopened in July 2002 when Dr. Glen Hunter, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, joined the HHS Medical Staff. Recently, Dr. Hunter has been joined by two additional Obstetricians/Gynecologists.

A Breastfeeding Clinic, is available for breastfeeding advice and assistance to expectant mothers considering breastfeeding and mothers who give birth at MDH. The clinic is staffed by a certified Lactation Consultant.
The Breastfeeding Clinic at MDH is open:
Mondays from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
The drop-in session (for women and babies only) is held on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., no appointment is necessary. The session is now held at Our Kids Milton Hub (540 Commercial Street, Milton at the corner of Commercial and Derry Road) attached to Our Lady of Victory School. Follow the colourful footprints to the door.
Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes
Halton Healthcare Services offers Breastfeeding workshops twice per month
(one evening class and one Saturday morning class). The classes are held at Milton District Hospital
through the Obstetrics Department.

Community Support Available The towns of Oakville and Milton, and surrounding communities, have several support groups available for expecting parents, new parents, and parents of children with special needs. You can download our list of available community resources.
Prenatal Classes Halton Healthcare is now offering childbirth and parenting seminars at its OTMH site (but these are open to families giving birth at the MDH site). The intense and informative weekend of lectures and group activities covers a wide range of topics from nutrition, labour and birth-plans to baby care, breastfeeding, infant safety and parenting. As of September 1, 2007, the cost for the course will be $215.00 per couple, which includes lunch.
The course is offered Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the following weekends:

October 4th & 5th
October 18th & 19th
November 1st & 2nd
November 22nd & 23rd
December - NO CLASSES
